I harvested my first eggplants and cucumbers from my garden. Looks like the eggplants are going to be very prolific this year. MJOL thinks he doesn't like eggplant.....I'm going to have to be very creative with some recipes. The basil is also getting busy and full of fragrant green leaves. Pesto is in my future!
The community garden is doing very well this year. So successful, that we have become our own non profit, called Billy Goat Hill Garden. Billy Goat Hill for where the garden is located. Goats were raised there at one time. We have partnered with local schools, a boy scout troupe (for 3 Eagle scout projects), and an adult daycare program. We have converted the hoop house into a hoop shade house for the summer. Neighborhood folk love to come sit in the shade house to watch the birds, bees, butterflies and other goings on. The wildflower area is blooming away, the sunflowers are headed for the sky (some as high as 10 feet) and the raspberries and blackberries are getting loaded with fruit. It seems that everybody has tomatoes in their raised beds, all types and colors, heirlooms and hybrids, hopefully there will be lots of trading going on.
BTW, does anyone know how to post pictures side by side in blogger? It would make for a smaller post. :)
Until our next baking adventure...

I have not been able to post images side by side but have managed to get them on either side of text. It is a putt-see task.
We like our eggplant cut like french fries, dipped in an milk-egg wash, rolled in seasoned panko, placed on an oiled baking sheet, misted with garlic olive oil. Bake at 400 for 10 min. turn and continue to bake till toasty brown.... excellent with your favorite sandwich. Sprinkle with grated parm cheese. YUM
I find that making the photos smallest and left hand aligned sometimes works, they seem at times to have a mind of their own. Probably if you can do html (I am very limited with this) you could go into that mode. If you find an easy answer let me know :) I just love your shade house.
your bread looks great and wow cool garden project
I just LOVE your pictures!!! Great gardening! Bet you get great crops with those bees around.
I am new at blogging, but you might try making the pictures small, and have them switch off between left and right immediately under each other. Would be great to have that as an option.
Nice bread, too!
Elwood,
I have found the easiest way to get them side by side is to use Piknik, a free application. Google piknk and download it. You can upload your own photos onto it and then send them back. It's easy and most of the things you will want to do are free (there are some extra things that they charge for but they are clearly marked as such). You can do collages of pictures, three or four in a row or on top of each other. You can also add text onto your photo, such as your blog name that clearly identifies the photos as yours. I'm sure you've seen them superimposed on blog photos.
Love the photos of your garden. I love japanese eggplant and your zinnias are beautiful.
Your loaf is lovely too.
Thanks for the commets and suggestions.
Bonnnie: I got piknik with a new printer that I purchased but have never used it. I will definitely try that.
You might want to check out big huge labs . com to combine photos in rows and columns, etc.
Your bread looks lovely. I haven't baked with the group this month. Maybe next month.
Love your garden. :)
