Beer Bread

Bread, slightly sweetened with honey, and beer, what could be wrong with that? I made the beer bread for our assignment this time around. I found this dough really easy to work with, but I thought it was a little dry..well, if I had actually used the right amount of beer it probably wouldn’t have been as dry. Gotta watch that halving of the recipe don’t you?

I had made some red beans and rice, and doesn’t that go with beer bread? A good friend brought some fresh asparagus; literally pick an hour before I steamed it…yummy.

BTW, has anyone been watching, TLC’s Extreme Couponing? I’m a totally hooked.

Until our next baking adventure.

Was it the halving of the recipe, or the tasting by the baker, that threw off the beer amount? The bread looks great, and appears less dense than mine, though perhaps the fact that I use freshly ground flour makes some difference.

Looks like a wonderful loaf of bread once again! Great shape to your bread too, perfect size for sandwiches!

Are you getting your garden ready?

Looks great! I'll have to try making it. And I better make sure I keep my hubby away from the beer till after the dough is made! :)

The garden is starting to swing into high gear. Next week is "Derby" week and nothing much goes on around this town but partying..not necessarily a bad thing. Traditionally, tomato plants are planted on Derby Day, so that's on my agenda next week. We lost one bee hive over the winter, but are starting 2 new ones, so we will have a total of 3 this year. Thanks for asking.

I think you may be right..maybe the tasting threw off the amount of beer in the bread! :)
